Sect sends flood victims rancid food

A Brazil-based Christian sect may have meant well when it sent food to Mozambican flood victims, but many of the care packages they sent were as much as two years past their sell-by dates, according to South Africa’s INDEPENDENT ONLINE.

Authorities in Mozambique say they may bring charges against the sect, its charitable arm, and a South-African grocery store which delivered the goods. Some African religious groups are even accusing the sect of trying to poison flood victims.
