Hell Chimp of the Day

In Robert Draper’s new book, Bush candidly describes his current war rationale: “I’m playing for October and November to get us into position where the presidential candidates will be comfortable about sustaining a presence to stay longer.”

So this is actually all a part of a political campaign! He is playing, he says, with these lives, for his ulterior motives. If there is a God then Bush will certainly ride the Freedom Express to Chimp Hell.

PS: In the same book he salivates over the huge mounds of cash he’ll get in speaking fees. It will “replenish the coffers,” he says. Could he have meant to say “coffins”?

Fact:

Mother Jones was founded as a nonprofit in 1976 because we knew corporations and billionaires wouldn't fund the type of hard-hitting journalism we set out to do.

Today, reader support makes up about two-thirds of our budget, allows us to dig deep on stories that matter, and lets us keep our reporting free for everyone. If you value what you get from Mother Jones, please join us with a tax-deductible donation today so we can keep on doing the type of journalism 2024 demands.
