Speaking at his victory party after Super Tuesday wins in Texas and Oklahoma, Ted Cruz urged his competitors to drop out of the race so he could more effectively take the fight to Donald Trump.

“For the candidates who have not yet won a state, who have not racked up significant delegates, I ask you to prayerfully consider uniting,” Cruz said, after congratulating Trump on his victories. “For those who have supported other candidates, we welcome you on our team standing as one.”

Cruz hammered the point that he is the only candidate who has defeated Trump in any primaries or caucuses.

“After tonight we have seen that our campaign is the only campaign that has beaten, that can beat, and that will beat Donald Trump,” Cruz said. “I congratulate Donald Trump on his victories tonight, but we are the only campaign that has beaten Donald Trump once, twice, three times.”

While Cruz celebrated his victories in Texas and Oklahoma, MSNBC interrupted its broadcast of his speech to confirm Trump had won Arkansas’ primary, his sixth win of the night.
